HISTORY

   In 1970, Vincenzo Sicbaldi was a 25 year old with a life-long passion for free diving and scuba. He trained as an instructor at the Forte Village resort in S.Margherita di Pula and in 1974 opened his first scuba recharging service, called Capannino, together with his wife Barbara. By 1983 they had transformed the service into Air Sub, the first centre in Italy to focus exclusively on the needs of scuba divers. The present day shop with its recharging and servicing centre opened in 1987, allowing divers to enjoy a state of the art service, recharging and servicing tanks, servicing and repairing leading brand equipment all under one roof.

In 1991 the 5 metre deep pool and the diving school opened in what had been a traditional ‘casa campidanese’ in the heart of Cagliari. This central location, the pool’s depth and viewing windows made learning to scuba dive accessible to everyone and the school has trained hundreds of divers since its inauguration.

Air Sub’s and Vincenzo’s dedication to all things scuba continued with the arrival of two diving boats, one based in the port of Capitana, and one in Villasimius further along the coast and in the heart of the Villasimius Maritime park, which was founded in 2000. The inauguration of the park soon led to improved diving and even greater demand for high quality diving in the area. Vincenzo rose up to this challenge by expanding what had been a small diving centre into the Air Sub Resort, with 5 rooms available for those who want to enjoy a complete diving experience.
