A story shaped by sea, craft and trust
Behind every great scuba dive there are stories of land, sea and people who chose to make the sea their home. AIR SUB is not simply a diving center or a service company. It is the story of a vision born more than fifty years ago.
That vision grew through the dedication of Vincenzo Sicbaldi and Antonio Catta, two professionals who dedicated their lives to the sea and built a way of working based on precision, respect and safety.
Vincenzo Sicbaldi
The beginning of a blue dream
The story of AIR SUB begins in 1970, when a young Vincenzo Sicbaldi, just 25 years old, transformed his love for the water into a profession at the prestigious Forte Village in Santa Margherita di Pula.
In 1974, together with his wife Barbara, Vincenzo officially founded AIR SUB in Pirri, Cagliari. The growth was unstoppable. In 1983 AIR SUB became the first business in Italy dedicated exclusively to the scuba diving world.
1987The current shop opens, with an advanced filling station and a service center for equipment maintenance and testing.
1991A 5-meter-deep training pool is built inside an old Campidanese house in Cagliari, with a side window for teaching observation.
1993Two dedicated boats are introduced in Capitana and Villasimius, laying the foundations for AIR SUB as a reference point for diving courses in Villasimius.
Antonio Catta
The soul of the sea and the passing of the torch
In 1997, the same deep passion for the sea led Antonio Catta to cross paths with Vincenzo. Antonio came from the sea: an underwater fisherman and a devoted freediving enthusiast.
Working side by side with Vincenzo, he quickly learned the craft and showed uncommon dedication and precision. Vincenzo entrusted Antonio with the command of AIR SUB 1, a 9-meter boat, and Antonio took the helm of the Capo Carbonara operation.
In 2002 Antonio officially joined the company as a partner and took over the management of the Villasimius Diving Center. Today, in addition to being a scuba instructor, he is an OTS, a professional commercial diver qualification that reflects competence, safety and underwater expertise.

The fleet is supported by a fast, comfortable RIB, ideal for reaching the more distant points of the Capo Carbonara Marine Protected Area.
